Permanent visitors at Oslostrasse: „A Band of Floating Mushrooms“

Come and see our permanent visitors at the Kunstfreilager Dreispitz: „A Band of Floating Mushrooms“ by Monica Studer and Christoph van den Berg is a group of gigantic mushrooms, 6.5 meters in height, installed on the rooftop next to the House of Electronic Arts. The mushrooms are metaphors for urban change – just like the one we are currently witnessing at the Dreispitz site.

“A Band of floating mushrooms” was digitally designed by Monica Studer and Christoph van den Berg and manufactured in white-coated aluminium by the Kunstbetrieb Münchenstein. Like members of a band, the mushrooms seem to be connected by a cable as they are broadcasting randomly generated music in live stream. The music performed by the mushrooms, however, is not actually coming through these cables, but from a PC server, and can therefore also be listened to online. To be able to hear the music while visiting the installation at the Dreispitz site, wireless headphones can be borrowed at the House of Electronic Arts.
