Opening Regionale 13 - Hidden/Obvious
Opening and Apéro , November 24, 2012, at 15.00h
This year's Regionale exhibition will be opened with a greeting by Roberto Simanowski, Associate Professor for Media Studies and an introduction by Sabine Himmelsbach, and accompanied by a performance with Aline Zeltner's "Klangobjekt" (sound object).
Audioperformance with Francisco Meirino, Christina Kubisch and Leif Elggren
The closing project for Christina Kubisch's „Electrical Walks“ is a performative concert with fellow sound artist Francisco Meirino and conceptual artist Leif Elggren. The made audible electromagnetic fields are being woven into a fascinating sound pattern by merging with Meirino's sound compositions, made from various acoustic devices, computers and magnetic field detectors. This enables the hearers to gain an audible insight into the exciting sonic experiences the visitors of the exhibition had during their walks through Basel's sound spaces.

Family Day with workshop
The City is structured by extraordinary invisible nets and data streams that usually can't be experienced with our human senses. The artists of the exhibition "Sensing Place" nevertheless make them visible, audible and palpable. Kids and their families are welcomed all day long to come and explore the exhibition, to experiment, and track down the invisible nets. Participance is possible throughout the whole day (please bring your own food).
moreDe Rerum Natura. Electroacoustic Performance by Luca Forcucci
„De Rerum Natura“ is an electroacoustic compisition of sound patterns that were collected and recorded by the composer and sonic artist Luca Forcucci on an expedition through the Brazilian rainforest and are now reenacted in a live performance. The main focus of the dynamic and intensive acoustical experience is spatial perception: the deterritorialized sound scenery of the forests blends into the context of the new exhibition space and enables the hearers to experience this medial and ruminant interspace.

Origami Workshop
Japanese artist Jun Mitani has created a specifically designed software that continuously comes up with new designs for origami artworks. These "spherical origami" are artworks made of paper but designed by a computer program. Geometrical calculations and computer simulation create extraordinary forms with bent surfaces that can be folded out of one piece of paper only without ripping.
